DOG FOULING PROBLEM – FOOTPATHS, OPEN AREAS AND PUBLIC WALKS AROUND BATH AVENUE AND DISTRICT

REPORT FOULING NOW – HOTLINE 1800 251 500.

Over recent months we have received regular complaints about dog fouling around the BADRA Area. In order to try and tackle this problem, We are posting here to advise all local residents of the law regarding dog fouling.
If you let your dog foul the footpath and public areas we will report you!

Under Dublin City Council’s Litter Wardens enforcement & Litter Pollution Act, 1997-2009. Section 22 (1) of the Act states that ‘Where faeces has been deposited by a dog in any place to which this subsection applies, the person in charge of the dog shall immediately remove the faeces and shall ensure that it is properly disposed of in a suitable sanitary manner.’ The fixed penalty fine amounts to €150. In respect of the fine not being paid, court proceedings can be initiated where on summary conviction, a maximum fine of €4,000 can be imposed.

It is illegal NOT to clean up after your dog!

We recognise that the majority of dog owners in the area are conscientious and responsible owners but we apologise if you are not a dog owner and feel that this post is graphic and not appropriate for you. However, we would ask for all resident’s co-operation in that if you have any information that may help to investigate the dog fouling problem in the area call the Hotline 1800 251 500.

You'd swear some of the 💩 was left by a bear it's so big, don't know how people think it's ok to leave it!

🤢 Disgusting, dont know how dog owners can walk away and ignore it 😡

I have to say we are always cleaning it up as we live on main road and the lamp post outside our house is constantly used as a dropping point so to speak ....thank you for bringing it up

Exactly, absolutely disgusting, but how do we know which dogs/owners are responsible, very bad especially in the dark when you can’t see where it is 😡

I would agree totally with the above and we definitely abide by the rules! But would ask if it could be raised that more bins be provided around the area. I’ve often been walking our dog around the area and walking for ages carrying a bag of poop before I come across a bin .... they are very sparsely distributed. So annoying!
